Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has ordered, in Novemeber 2013, launched the ‘1971’ initiative, which will provide an informative and cultural aspect to the 42nd national day celebrations.
The initiative also coincides with the UAE Flag Day celebrations. The initiative, along with the celebrations, aims to create a festive atmosphere that can be enjoyed by Emiratis, residents, and visitors in the UAE.
The initiative will be carried out through various media bodies by posing questions to the public. Each question will be presented for a specific amount of time. A total of 1971 questions will be asked, and the details on how the questions will be presented, answers can be submitted, as well as prizes for correct answers will be revealed at a later date.
The initiative’s title, 1971, is in reference to the year in which the federation was formed, and also complements the informative aspect of the initiative.
In 18th of February 2014, the Board of the “1971 Initiative” launched the first event featuring a quiz competition. The competition aims to provide accurate and documented information about the history and present of the United Arab Emirates in addition to various national achievements. The winners will be honored in a special ceremony that will be held by the end of 2014 during the UAE 43rd National Day celebrations.
To ensure the accuracy of the information, the “1971 Initiative” signed an agreement with the “National Center for Documentation and Research” to make use of the center’s rich experience in historic archiving which will verify the accuracy of information.
