Operation of passenger terminal at the "Dubai World Central Airport" was started on October 27, 2013. It is the second airport in Dubai, after the completion of a passenger terminal in 2012.
The "Dubai Airports" have opened a cargo terminal at the same airport in June 2010 and soon became one of the most important centers in the region, where 36 aviation companies operate scheduled and charter flights.
"DWC” was established in line with the ambitious vision, launched by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, necessitating the need to make history and look to the future with confident steps. The project was designed to meet Dubai’s needs in the fields of aviation and tourism, trade and logistics until 2050.

The project includes six specialised areas, namely: Al Maktoum International Airport, the "Dubai Logistic City" (DLC), "Residential City", "Commercial City”, "Golf City" and " Aviation City ". The cost of these areas mounted to AED 120 billion (about $ 32 billion).
"DWC" sits on an area of 140 square kilometers in Jebel Ali and has a runway equipped to deal with the giant Airbus A380 aircrafts. It also contains 64 aprons with a capacity of 7 million passengers annually.
The "Dubai World Central” project is one of the most important projects launched by Dubai until today. This mega multistage project is centered on construction of a new international airport that will be the largest airport in the world. "DWC presents a new concept in the field of planning aviation services cities and integrated residential destinations.
