Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed to establish a new centrein Dubai to promote and safeguard UAE traditional and cultural heritage.
The “Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre" will act as a platform for all initiatives and activities of Sheikh Hamdan, which seek to promote and deepen indigenous heritage and culture, authentic traditions and values as well as national identity, communicating them to the new generation.The centre will also conduct research and studies on UAE heritage, culture, history and people.
Sheikh Hamdan affirmed that preserving the UAE heritage is a national duty and all government and non-government sectorsshould mobilise efforts in order to serve that goal; adding that our heritage is the source of our strength and an evidence of our past and the true history of the region and the social and cultural lifestyle of the past.
The newcentre will bring together Sheikh Hamdan’scultural activities including Fazza championships for falconry, shooting, diving, traditional dance (Yula) and hunting.
Moreover, the new centre will establish a database from conduction studies and gathering information and statistics on indigenous culture, heritage, folklore and history to cater for both citizens and concerned researchers.
